BIO

Sandor Lakatos, a renowned Hungarian fashion designer, was born and raised in the small town of Tatabánya, Hungary. From the age of 15, he worked on a sewing line, learning all the tricks of the trade from his grandmother, who managed the factory. Inspired by his early experiences, Sandor always knew he wanted to wear clothes he designed himself.

“It’s not like I had to think and choose a career, or like becoming a designer was the most obvious choice in my environment. On the contrary – I was called overly idealistic, sometimes insane for something that was so natural to me. My vision seemed like the most outrageous thing for everybody around.”

Sandor launched his design career in 2008 by founding Sandor Lakatos Atelier, which produces annual menswear collections. His distinct style and expertise in made-to-measure sartorial suits have garnered a loyal following. Over the years, he has dressed numerous Hungarian celebrities for television, editorials, and red carpet events. Sandor Lakatos Atelier has received extensive press coverage, with editorial features in international fashion magazines and online platforms.

In 2012, Sandor's breakthrough moment came when his work was featured in Vogue Italia’s new talents section, bringing international attention to his designs. His creations were showcased in Paris at a Showroom Autrement PR event in 2014 and at the Tranoi trade show. He had PR representation and stockists in London (Studio Collections), Dubai (The Cartel Showroom), and Budapest (Berlin Store and Treasure), along with a growing number of online retailers. Currently, he operates a showroom in Budapest.
